For a champions league winner and our highest paid player, I’d expect a more whole hearted performance from Zouma. Was at fault for the Penalty, fed up with him lumbering back with no urgency, not lived up to expectations in any way.

Soucek hasn’t looked like he wants to be here since this so called wage dispute has been going on, drop the petulant cunt.

Antonio, for all the decent attitude, is just a shit striker, last season when he was off to a brilliant start with 6 in 8 he was talking about the golden boot - simpleton. Fed up with most of his attempts hitting the floodlights.

Cresswell has needed replacing for at least 2 seasons how the fuck can a professional footballer be soooo one footed.

Benrahma, it’s just getting tedious now.

Coufal and Fornals are triers at least, but shouldn’t be guaranteed starters.

There’s very little to be positive about when that team seems incapable of lifting the support who would in turn lift the team.

We’ve got new faces, play them and let our more established players earn their spots.

It’s no wonder why Dec and Bowen were running around as if they were going to hand in transfer requests.

Time for Moyes to earn his corn, if he can.

Rice has recently become a dad which may explain why he is half asleep!

It's a boy so we should be looking at tying his son down to a long term contract.

a big problem I've had recently are the mixed messages, inconsistent behaviour from the manager. saying new players were ready before the forest game, then not seeing them until the 67th minute. downes allegedly injured for the bible game, then seen on the bench and brought on for the last few mInutes. he's just digging a hole for himself in regard to the fans who rely on the manager being honest/transparent and not treating them like fools

See that Soucek pass completion yesterday was 60%. That’s shocking for any player let alone a CM.

Yesterday was pretty fucking dire, can't think of a single positive to take from that.

We don't look like scoring, which at home to Brighton is pretty worrying. When we were in their half they were on us. Had real pressure on their press yet we couldnt get near them.

We are crying out for a number 10 who can get on the half turn in the pocket between defence and midfield and drive to create and hurt teams.

The only way we look like scoring is a cross form our full backs, there is absolutely no goal threat or creativity coming from the middle of the pitch. The crosses are then shit, or we arent playing Scamacca who is probably our biggest ariel threat.

Fornals, Cresswell, Soucek, Coufal...... you are simply not going to win premier league matches with them starting at the moment.....could even argue Antonio too. You have to start looking at the manager when you look at our appaling record this calendar year. That combined with a shit pre season.....a squad not reday in terms of fitness or personel to kick the season off has to come down to the manager. Writing was on the wall pre season, we looked dogshit and its carried on into the league.

But for me the most worrying is the clear drop of form in both Rice and Bowen, yesterday neither looked bothered.......alot of the play was slow and half hearted. I think thats the worst i've seen Rice. Bowen had a moan at the crowd behind the goal in the second half.... would never have seen that last season......something in the dressing room seems off and we look miles away from getting a result.

Agree with most of that.

Fornals was very poor yesterday. But we know that he can do better.

The midfield was dire. It created very little for Antonio and then Scamacca to work with. It seemed that Brighton had two more men there, and an extra one in defence. We're not going to win (m)any games playing like that.

So what really in the biggest problem? Partly it's the raft of new players who still have to learn how to play together, and how and what to anticipate from their new colleagues. Then there's the formation.

What's the solution. One is time, of course. The formation issue is, or should be, more easily and quickly addressed. Three central defenders plus wing backs? Five in midfield and two up front? Personally, I'd like to see Antonio and Scamacca together up front. But the back and middle lines? Moyes will just have to experiment and there seems little other option for us than to be patient until he finds a system that really works. I don't know what other solutions there are.

You could match up the quality of our squad with a lot of other sides and it would be as good or better but its not performing.

There was a period in the game where we upped the intensity, started playing one touch passes and tried to get closer together. I thought the penny had dropped and we were getting in promising positions with Brighton looking more vulnerable.
We couldnt sustain it though. The fitness levels remind me of what they were in Bilics last season when he was sacked. I cant believe it is just down to lack of training, it's mentality and desire and we are lacking it. Its an unhappy team playing badly.

This is the whole problem though. When you say move him further forward, are you talking up front? Because at the moment, with leaving just 2 players in centre mid the way we do, we are overrun every game, so we can't just 'play him further forward'. The bloke can't pass water, this goal threat that isn't producing goals is a false economy. We need players who can play football.

And how fucking bad was Fornals yesterday? Actually, he was so bad it appears to have gone over everyone's heads. My biggest problem with him is how badly he treats the football, he wasn't involved much, but every time he was we seemed to surrender possession. He was supposed to be our creative spark.

So many fucking problems throughout the whole team. Claret Jacket thinks it's solely down to our formation, I mean fucking hell. Don't get me wrong, it's part of the problem, but it's the players in it that are the real issue.

The contrast made the problem obvious. We are playing like a group of strangers that do not link up, have no idea how each other play. Brighton were the opposite.
The sooner this transfer window is over and training is improved the better. Getting late already though.

We do not pass well, don't get the ball forward. The midfield has lost all ability to control and attack through the middle. While the flanks have poor final ball or when it works the attempts on goal are not going in, not good enough. Soucek is an example of what's wrong with the whole team, poor final pass, and goal attempts that just frustrate.

Moyes has work to do, I hope not too much for him. Needs to close the window and get this team of misfits working together.

When he got forward, Soucek looked a threat. As he had been in his first season. He could easily have had one if not for the acrobatics of their keeper. I'd like to see him moved much further forward and see what he can do there with a run of games.

I agree we should be around 7th given our size and spend etc, but the REALITY is we may have had 2 seasons in that position but in general we underperform, why is that? Nothing to do with fans having a small cub mentality, it’s a sign the club is not run very efficiently and when we do splash the cash, we usually get it wrong, Haller, Anderson and Carroll are prime examples, in essence the problems stem from the owners and management, NOT the fans having a small club mentality so give that one a rest FFS.

The team is good enough, the tactics and application are not. Hopelessly overrun in midfield. Both Soucek and Rice look overworked, tired and lacking in options or ideas.
The signs have been there for a while. This formation is not working but he never changes it. You can't play three attacking midfielders and leave most the graft to two in the middle. Other sides know they can control the midfield and create chances.
I really think the dynamics of the team are shot. We have dismantled a tight unit of players and now have a fractured dressing room, lost the main contact between squad and coach in Noble and it looks to be weighing on Rice who for me is a shadow of the player we've got used to seeing. He lost the ball a number of times today and looked tired and resigned to the loss. The squad will look to him when it struggles and today he wasn't able to inspire a come back.
I have to say Kehrer had an awful debut. All over the place.
I'm not sure there is a need to panic but we are getting nowhere near top 6 this year.

It’s taken this long to decompress

That was the worst I have seen us for sometime. Team were defeated the minute they walked on the pitch. Some serious body language concerns.

Is this the lack of nobles influence? Did he keep them grounded? Are played pisses off because they are finally having completion for places?

How bad was it Scorchio? If you remember how it ended with Pellegrini when the players looked pissed off, clueless and not up for the fight that's pretty much how we looked today. Not wetting my knickers after three games but on top of the way our form fell off a cliff last season it feels like something's gone seriously wrong behind the scenes.

Totally correct meerkat. We always always let the manager issue drag on and on although its so obvious to everyone that a change is needed. Remember Gold supporting Grant right until the end? Then it was panic panic to get a replacement.
